Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Elector John George I facing right, crowned and wearing a fur-trimmed electoral mantle over armor, holding an upright sword over his right shoulder. The quartered Saxon electoral arms appear on a large shield in the lower field, flanked by the abbreviated name IOH and GEOR in the inner field. The date 1617 is divided at the base of the design. A beaded inner border separates the central effigy from the surrounding Latin legend.
