Obverse description Armored equestrian figure of Elector Frederick V advancing to the right, mounted on a elaborately caparisoned horse, the rider depicted in full plate armor with his right arm raised. The legend surrounds the central device within a beaded border, reading FR-IDERICVS.D.-G.C.-P.ELECTOR in Latin. The composition is rendered in the vigorous late Renaissance style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Palatinate coinage.
