Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Elector Frederick August I facing right, wearing a flowing full-bottomed periwig rendered in high relief with elaborate curling locks. The effigy displays a richly detailed cuirass with decorative gorget and shoulder drapery in the late Baroque manner. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading FRID AUGUST D G DVX SAX I C M A & W, identifying the ruler by name and title. The rim is bordered by a fine toothed or milled edge. The overall engraving style reflects the high-quality craftsmanship characteristic of the Dresden Mint in the late 17th century.
