Beschrijving voorzijde Armored and draped bust of King Christian V facing right, wearing an elaborate plumed helmet adorned with laurel and feathers in the baroque military fashion. The king's portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the armor, drapery, and facial features. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, separated from the portrait by a raised inner border. Bullet-point stops divide the legend elements throughout.

Aanvullende informatie

Christian V issued this multiple-ducat piece in the same year Denmark was consolidating its absolutist legal framework under the Danske Lov of 1683 — a code that had restructured the entire relationship between crown and nobility just five years prior. Large gold multiples of this type were not struck for circulation; they functioned as diplomatic gifts and presentation pieces distributed at court, making survivors in any condition genuinely scarce.

Christiansborg, named in the coin's title, was the first palace of that name on the site — destroyed by fire in 1794.
