4 Ducats - Carolus I

Valencia struck this issue under the authority of Carolus I — the same monarch known to the rest of Europe as Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. The Kingdom of Valencia retained its own mint rights and coinage privileges under the Crown of Aragon, and this four-ducat piece reflects that fiscal autonomy during a period when the young Habsburgs were consolidating control across multiple sovereign territories simultaneously.

Cal#1 designation places this at the opening of Calicó's reference work — the first catalogued entry of the series. The date range spans the Revolt of the Germanies, Valencia's own internal uprising of 1519–1523, which severely disrupted regional commerce and minting activity.
