Obverse description Central field features the heraldic bear of Bern passant to the left, rendered in high relief with detailed fur texture, set within a plain inner circle bordered by a beaded ring. Above the bear, a double-headed imperial eagle is depicted at the top of the inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend MONETA NO BERNENSIS runs around the outer field, separated from the inner design by the beaded border. The overall design reflects the late medieval Swiss civic heraldic tradition executed in the hammered technique.
