Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Leodegar (Leodegarius), patron saint of Lucerne, standing on a plain ground line above a small star. The saint is vested in full episcopal regalia — mitre, cope with ornate morse, and liturgical garments — and is surrounded by a radiate glory of diverging rays. He holds a crozier in his right hand and an auger (his martyrdom attribute) in his left. The surrounding legend reads SANCT : LEODIGARIUS PATRON :, distributed around the periphery of the field in crisp Latin capitals, with the figure rendered in confident high relief consistent with late Baroque engraving practice.
