| Beschrijving keerzijde | St. Ursula stands at the prow of a ship, depicted in full figure with an arrow piercing her breast, her martyrdom's attribute, flanked on either side by Prince Aetherius of England and St. Cyriacus, all three rendered in Gothic figural style. Additional figures from her legendary retinue of eleven thousand virgins are visible in the background, evoking the narrative of the Cologne martyrdom legend. The scene is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the circular uncial Latin legend encircling the entire composition. The reverse legend, rendered in the same uncial script as the obverse, bears a devotional verse alluding to the heavenly reward won through martyrdom. |
