The arms of the Bailiwick of Guernsey occupy the central field, depicting a shield charged with three golden lions passant guardant arranged in pale, derived from the ancient arms of Normandy. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, above which a sprig of foliage serves as a crest. The surrounding legend, in raised Latin characters, reads S·BALLIVIE·INSVLE·DE·GERNEREVE, running clockwise around the periphery. |

A stylised Guernsey lily (Nerine sarniensis) is depicted in the centre of the field, rendered with gracefully curling petals and a prominent stem, executed in a bold relief style characteristic of Paul Vincze's engraving. The engraver's initials P.V. appear to the left of the stem. The legend GUERNSEY arcs along the upper periphery, while FOUR DOUBLES curves along the lower periphery, with the date 1956 inscribed in the lower central field between the denomination and the floral device. |
