| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II rendered in fine relief, depicting Her Majesty at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed and uncrowned. The portrait, engraved by Susan Taylor, shows the Queen adorned with a necklace and drop earrings, with the legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcing along the upper periphery of the field. The mature and dignified likeness reflects the official portrait adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint for the period. The inscription translates as 'Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God.' |
