| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded and uncrowned, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, as rendered by engraver Susan Taylor. The mature portrait presents the Queen in a dignified, refined style consistent with the fourth definitive effigy used on Canadian coinage. The obverse legend arcs along the upper periphery and lower field, incorporating the denomination and the initials SB attributing the portrait design. |
