Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed and wearing a necklace and earrings, as rendered by engraver Susan Taylor. The portrait is presented in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcs along the upper periphery, with the denomination 4 DOLLARS inscribed below.

Reverse description A finely detailed grouping of maple leaves dominates the central field, with the upper leaves rendered in selective gold plating, contrasting dramatically against the mirror-polished silver lower leaves and field. The engraver's initials AN appear in the lower central field. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the date 2014 to the left and the fineness mark 9999 to the right at mid-field. The inscription FINE SILVER 1/2 OZ ARGENT PUR curves along the lower rim.
