Obverse lettering Ottawa Jany. 2nd 1902 The Dominion of Canada Will pay to the Bearer Four Dollars
Reverse description The reverse is printed in deep green and carries a large central vignette of the Ottawa Parliament Buildings and Library as viewed from Nepean Point, rendered with fine intaglio line work. Ornate guilloche panels bearing the numeral 4 and the word FOUR occupy each corner, framing the central design. The denomination legends appear at the base and along the upper border within the decorative surround.
