| Reverse description | A bold diagonal cross, formed by two intersecting lines, divides the field into four quarters. The denomination indicator 'D' appears in the left quarter and the numeral '4' in the right quarter, together denoting the face value of four Denari. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, consistent with the obverse treatment, and the field displays the typical granular surface texture associated with billon coinage of the Genoese Republic. |

| Additional information |
By the mid-eighteenth century, Genoa's billon small change was chronically debased and distrusted, fueling repeated popular complaints about the purchasing power of petty coinage. The 1752 issue falls within a period when the Republic was still absorbing the financial strain of the 1746 Austrian occupation, during which imperial forces had extracted substantial indemnities from the city before being expelled in a popular uprising.
Billon of this denomination circulated hard and was seldom saved.
