Obverse description Central field displays the crowned castle of Navarre, serving as the royal arms, with the denomination numeral '4' positioned below and flanked by two pellets on either side within a beaded inner circle. The crowned monogram 'FI' (for Filipus) appears above the castle surmounted by a cross. The circumferential Latin legend reads '+ PHILIPVS · D · G · R · NAV', separated from the central device by a beaded border. The strike is typical of hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges and uneven relief characteristic of early 17th-century Navarrese copper issues.
