Reverse description A plain cross pattée occupies the center of the reverse field, its four arms extending nearly to the coin's irregular edge, a design emblematic of the Order of Christ and consistently used on Portuguese colonial copper coinage. The cross is boldly raised in relief against a flat, unadorned field, with no surrounding legend or additional devices. The hammered technique results in slight irregularities in the arms' proportions, characteristic of Goa mint bazaruco issues of this period.
