Beschrijving voorzijde Central field bears the coat of arms of Lucerne displayed on an ornate oval shield, flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork and a floral garland. A mascaron (decorative face mask) appears below the shield, consistent with the decorative idiom of the period. The engraver's initials I·B (for Johann Bruppacher) are incorporated into the legend. The circumferential legend in Latin reads DOMINUS SPES POPULI SUI, meaning 'God is the hope of His people,' rendered in raised Roman capitals.

Beschrijving keerzijde The denomination and date are presented within a bold baroque cartouche composed of vigorous foliate scrolls and acanthus-like flourishes, with a decorative shell or fan motif crowning the upper portion of the cartouche. The value is expressed in Roman numeral form as IIII BATZEN, with the date 1744 inscribed below in Arabic numerals. The circular legend MONETA NOVA REIP · LUCERNENSIS encircles the entire design, identifying this as a new coin of the Republic of Lucerne. The overall composition displays the characteristic high-relief decorative style of mid-18th-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
