Obverse description Central field features the arms of Schwyz — a plain shield displaying the distinctive hooked emblem of the canton — set within a beaded inner circle. The date 1672 and the legend MON:NOVA:SVITENSIS appear in the outer circular margin, divided by a small floral ornament, all enclosed within a dotted border. The design is characteristic of hammered Swiss cantonal coinage of the late seventeenth century.
