4 Annas Landhi Field Officers Club

Landhi, located near Karachi in what was then British India, housed a significant military cantonment during the Second World War. The Landhi Field Officers Club issued these low-denomination chits — 4 Annas representing a modest fractional value — almost certainly to manage internal messing, bar, or canteen accounts, keeping small transactions off the regimental paymaster's books.

Club and mess tokens of this type were never legal tender and carried no guarantee beyond the institution's own float. Most were destroyed at the close of the war when clubs wound down and accounts were settled. Survivors are almost always found in poor condition from heavy canteen use.
