| Obverse description | Printed in dark brown on a fine guilloche underprint, the obverse is laid out in a dense Gothic (Fraktur) letterpress text composition. The central denomination line reads '4,2 Pfennig-Gold = 1/100 Dollar' in large bold type, flanked above by the title 'Notgeldschein' and below by extensive redemption and legal tender clauses referencing the Reichsgoldanleihe law of 14 August 1923. The vertical left margin carries a sideways-printed denomination legend '4,2 Pfennig-Gold — 1/100 Dollar', and the lower right bears the issuer's name 'Die Handelskammer als Treuhänderin' above two manuscript facsimile signatures, with the date 'Erfurt, den 30. Oktober 1923' to the left. |

August 1923) um, oder zahlt gegen Aushändigung dieses Scheines einen gleichwertigen Barbetrag. Ausgegeben mit Genehmigung des Reichsministers der Finanzen. Der Umtausch oder die Zahlung erfolgt bei folgenden Banken in Erfurt: Bank für Thüringen vorm. B. M. Strupp A.-G. Filiale Erfurt, Commerzund Privat-Bank A.-G. Filiale Erfurt, Darmstädter und Nationalbank K. a. A. Filiale Erfurt, Deutsche Bank Filiale Erfurt, Dresdner Bank Filiale Erfurt, Adolph Giurde, H. Ullmann. Für den gesamten Betrag des von der Handelskammer Erfurt ausgegebenen Notgeldes ist der Gegenwert in Reichsschatzanweisungen (Reichsgoldanleihe) bei der Reichsbank in Erfurt hinterlegt.
