| Obverse description | Draped bust of Louis XV facing right, wearing a wig with elaborate curls, set within a milled border. The encircling legend reads LUD•XV•D G•FR•ET NAV•REX. An oval counterstamp applied by the Canton of Vaud in the left field bears the denomination 39 BZ (39 Batz), stamped over the host coin's field. The bust is rendered in the baroque portrait style characteristic of French royal coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
