| Popis rubu | The reverse presents a neoclassical funerary composition engraved by Matthew Bowen, centred on an ornate covered urn set upon a stepped pedestal, the latter bearing the inscription OBITUS 13 OCT 1812 commemorating the date of Sir Isaac Brock's death at the Battle of Queenston Heights. Two winged putti flank the urn symmetrically, each holding aloft a laurel branch that arches over the vessel in tribute. A fine beaded inner border frames the design, within which the bilingual legend THE HERO OF UPPER CANADA / SIR ISAAC BROCK / LE HÉROS DU HAUT-CANADA encircles the periphery. The deeply recessed field provides a strong contrast to the finely frosted relief elements, characteristic of a high-quality proof strike. |
