| Obverse description | Printed in orange and pale yellow on cream paper, the obverse carries the issuing authority's title in Gothic script along the top margin. The centre is occupied by the large numeral '35' flanked symmetrically by two ornate Jugendstil vignettes of stylised cowbells adorned with edelweiss blossoms, all set against a fine spiral guilloche underprint. Below, the denomination 'Pfennig' is inscribed in matching script, with two facsimile signatures above the issuing authority line 'Gemeinderat Ruhpolding' and the date '5. April 1921'; the whole composition is enclosed within a decorative chain border. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, in the same orange and pale yellow palette, presents a central circular vignette enclosed by a floral and chain frame, showing a Bavarian alpine farmstead set against a wooded mountain backdrop. Large edelweiss motifs with ribbon scrollwork occupy the lower left and right corners, while smaller floral ornaments border the circular frame. The validity notice 'Gültig bis 1. Jan. 1922' appears at the top, and a two-line rhyming motto in Gothic script runs along the bottom, all within the same chain border as the obverse. |

Ruhpolding is a small alpine resort town in the Chiemgau district of Upper Bavaria. Its municipal council issued this 35 Pfennig Notgeld note in 1921 as small-denomination coinage had all but vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply worn out of the system by wartime disruption and postwar instability. The 35 Pfennig denomination is itself a tell: Notgeld issuers frequently chose odd values to discourage redemption and keep the notes circulating locally as long as possible, effectively giving the municipality an interest-free float.
