Reverse description The Portuguese royal coat of arms of João V, displaying the second type of shield, centrally placed within an elaborate Baroque cartouche of acanthus scrollwork and foliate ornaments. The escutcheon bears the traditional quinas (five shields in cross formation, each charged with bezants) and is surmounted by an open royal crown. The field is blank, with no surrounding legend, and the entire design is contained within a toothed outer border.
