Obverse description Central crowned shield bearing the arms of the city of Lübeck — a silver double-headed eagle on a red field — displayed within an ornate baroque cartouche. The date 16-71 is divided to either side of the shield in the field. The circular legend reads 32 SCHILLING LVBE STADT GELT, running around the periphery of the coin.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the center of the field, with outstretched wings and a small orb or shield on the breast, rendered in high relief in a bold baroque style. The circular legend CIVITATIS IMPERIAL runs around the periphery, denoting Lübeck's status as a free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire. The crown surmounting the eagle's heads is prominent and finely detailed.
