The 32 Schilling denomination was peculiar to the north German monetary system and Lübeck's insistence on issuing it in 1672 reflects the city's stubborn monetary independence during a period when larger territorial powers were actively consolidating coinage rights. Lübeck remained one of the few cities still striking substantial silver on its own authority this late in the century, long after most comparable free cities had ceded minting operations or adopted imperial standards wholesale.
KM#107 is known with minor die variations in the city arms rendering.
