Obverse description Diademed head of Hieron II facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with elaborately curled hair bound by a broad royal diadem. The portrait is idealized yet individualizing, with strong facial features and a sensitively modeled profile. A bucranium (ox-skull) control mark appears in the right field.

Reverse description Nike, winged and standing erect, drives a slow quadriga to the right, holding the reins and a kentron (goad) as the four horses advance at a walking pace. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΟΣ appears above in the upper field, and ΙΕΡΩΝΟΣ is inscribed in the lower exergual area, together reading 'of King Hieron.' A control letter [K] is visible in the right field. The composition follows the grand Syracusan tradition of chariot-type coinage.
