Reverse description A large naturalistic butterfly displayed with wings spread occupies the entire central field, rendered in fine relief with dotted wing patterns suggesting ocelli markings and clearly delineated wing venation. The body of the insect is shown in detail with antennae projecting upward from the head. The design fills the flan with no surrounding legend or inscription, the butterfly presented in a plain field within a raised rim, lending the type its popular collector name 'Schmetterlingstaler' (Butterfly Thaler).
