Obverse description Central field features the Arabic numeral '3' enclosed within a circular cartouche, surrounded by a wreath of stylized palm or laurel branches tied at the base with a decorative bow. A thin Arabic legend arcs above the cartouche, reading the name and titles of Ottoman Sultan Abdulmecid I. The overall design is rendered in low relief on a plain field, consistent with the milled coinage of the Tunisian Beylik under Ottoman suzerainty.
