The animal stands on a ground line beneath which the ethnic legend appears in two lines within a recessed panel in the exergue. The musculature of the bull is boldly modelled, conveying great power and movement. This iconic bull type is emblematic of Thourioi's coinage and references both civic pride and the fertile agricultural character of the region. The field is otherwise plain. |
