| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a finely detailed depiction of a dragon in dynamic form, rendered in the traditional Chinese artistic style associated with the Lunar New Year series. Beneath the dragon appears the Chinese character '龍' (Dragon), while a pearl of wisdom is positioned to the right of the central motif. The English inscription 'YEAR OF THE DRAGON' is lettered along the lower portion of the field, and the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark appears within the design. The composition celebrates the Chinese zodiac Year of the Dragon, blending Eastern iconography with Western numismatic tradition. |

The 2012 Year of the Dragon kilo coin from Perth Mint is, in this instance, not a kilogram piece at all — the 10,001 gram weight places it among the largest single gold coins ever produced by any sovereign or quasi-sovereign mint. Perth has issued several of these extreme-format bullion pieces, but the Dragon edition was produced in a mintage of just one. A single coin, legal tender at face value under Australian law, with a gold content that dwarfs the annual output of many small refineries.
The Dragon holds particular commercial significance in Chinese bullion markets, driving Perth's lunar series to consistent sell-through that most Western mints cannot match.
