The "Français de la Monnaie" series was produced by the Paris Mint as a collector fantasy issue — not authorized tender in any functional sense, but sold under the Cambodian name through licensing arrangements that were common among small-denomination gold novelty programs in the early 2000s. Cambodia had no meaningful domestic gold coinage tradition at this weight class; the series exists purely because the Paris Mint was aggressively marketing fractional gold collectibles to European collectors during this period.
