Paraguay's 1975 gold commemorative series was issued under the Stroessner dictatorship, a regime that used prestige coinage almost entirely for foreign hard-currency generation rather than domestic circulation. These pieces were sold internationally through coin dealers and never meaningfully entered Paraguayan hands.
The Holy Trinity Church — La Santísima Trinidad del Paraná — is the ruins of a Jesuit reducción founded in 1706, among the best-preserved of the mission complexes that the Spanish Crown expelled the Jesuits from in 1767.
