| Beschrijving keerzijde | A forward-facing bust portrait of the German Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer dominates the field, rendered in fine high-relief detail with his characteristic long flowing hair and beard, closely following the style of his celebrated 1500 self-portrait. The portrait is centrally positioned within a beaded inner border. The legend ALBRECHT DURER arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by raised dots as decorative separators. Paraguay's 1973 commemorative gold series was issued under Alfredo Stroessner's government partly as a hard-currency revenue mechanism — these pieces were never intended for domestic circulation and were sold directly to foreign collectors and dealers. The Dürer subject was one of several European artists selected for the series, a curatorial choice that had nothing to do with any Paraguayan cultural connection and everything to do with international market appeal.
KM#90 is one of the more attainable pieces from the set. Mintages were modest but not tight.
