Aanvullende informatie

Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari housed a processional avenue lined with sphinx figures bearing her likeness — most were later systematically defaced or buried on the orders of Thutmose III, her successor, in a deliberate campaign to erase her from official memory. Surviving examples now anchor collections at the Metropolitan Museum and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Chad has no historical connection to ancient Egypt. The issue belongs to a well-documented category of sub-Saharan numismatic licensing, where sovereign mint rights are leased to produce collectibles for the European and Asian bullion markets.
