Cameroon's high-denomination franc issues of the 2010s and 2020s are a product of the European numismatic collectibles trade, not Cameroonian monetary policy. The Bank of Central African States technically authorizes these pieces, but production, distribution, and marketing are handled entirely by European minting houses and their dealer networks — primarily targeting collectors in France, Germany, and Benelux. Black rhodium plating, applied over fine silver, is a finishing technique that became commercially viable for numismatic use only in the past two decades. It is prone to micro-abrasion on handling.
