The "Warsaw Genuflection" refers to West German Chancellor Willy Brandt's spontaneous kneel before the monument to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on December 7, 1970 — an unrehearsed act that became one of the most discussed gestures in postwar European diplomacy.
