| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse of this rectangular gold piece features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Chad centrally positioned in the field, depicting a shield charged with a wavy chevron pattern, supported by a goat dexter and a lion sinister, with a banner below bearing the national motto. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD is inscribed along the upper margin in bold Latin characters, while the denomination 3000 FRANCS CFA appears prominently along the lower margin. The fineness inscription 999/1000 FINE GOLD runs vertically along the right border. The entire design is rendered on a polished gold surface with a raised rectangular border framing the composition. |

The BEAC issues commemorative collector pieces under licensing arrangements that have no bearing on the monetary policy of its six member states — Cameroon, CAR, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. At 0.031 g of fine gold, this is among the smallest gold coin formats commercially produced, a format pioneered largely by the Polish Mint and widely contract-struck for various African issuing authorities seeking collectible product with nominal face values.
Van Gogh painted The Starry Night in June 1889 while voluntarily committed at Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The canvas has been held by the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1941.
