Chad issues coins through the BEAC (Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale) but has long licensed its name to European private minting operations — Pobjoy, Scottsdale, and others — producing collector pieces with no genuine circulation intent. This 3000 Francs CFA denomination does not correspond to any standard BEAC monetary unit in actual use. The Erasmus Programme, funded by the European Union and celebrating student exchange across member and partner states, has no administrative or political connection to Chad whatsoever.
At 0.06 g of gold, this is among the smallest gold coin formats commercially produced — a novelty format targeting completionist collectors rather than numismatists proper.
