Additional information

Tektites are not meteorites — they form when a meteorite impact melts terrestrial rock, flinging molten silica into the atmosphere where it resolidifies before landing. Chad is geologically relevant here: the Aorounga impact structure in the north of the country is one of the best-preserved multi-ring craters on Earth, lending the issuer at least some geographic logic. These small-format gold issues from the Central African Economic and Monetary Community mid-2010s run were produced by the Polish mint Mennica Polska under license.
