| 背面描述 | Allegorical theatrical scene inspired by the drama 'The Tragedy of Man': a couple stands together atop a globe at centre, with the imposing shadow of a divine figure looming behind them, evoking themes of creation, fate, and human struggle. The composition is rendered in a detailed, artistic relief style reflecting the dramatic character of Madách's work. The title inscription arcs across the upper field, identifying the work and its author. |

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the first publication of Madách's 1862 verse drama, which debuted in print before it ever reached the stage — the Hungarian Academy of Sciences initially doubted it could be performed at all. The work's theatrical premiere came only in 1883, twenty years after Madách's death, and only after the director Ede Paulay compressed the fifteen scenes into something stageable.
The Magyar Nemzeti Bank has returned to this subject more than once, but the 2012 issue is tied specifically to the sesquicentennial of that 1862 publication.
