Krausz Ferenc — Ferenc Krausz — shared the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics for his foundational work in attosecond science, specifically the generation and measurement of attosecond pulses of light that allow observation of electron dynamics within atoms. The prize was announced in October 2023, and this commemorative followed within months, an unusually fast turnaround for a Hungarian honoree coin. Krausz was born in Mór, Hungary in 1962 and built much of his career at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany.
