Reverse description A central design depicts three tall trees with full foliage growing upward through a gap in a stone wall, symbolising Hungary's emergence from communist rule and the restoration of freedom. The legend 30 ÉVE SZABADON (Free for 30 Years) arches prominently above the scene along the upper rim. Below the wall, multiple inscriptions arranged in descending order commemorate key milestones of Hungary's democratic transition: the joint opposition demonstration of March 15, 1989, the Opposition Round Table of March 22, 1989, the free elections of March 25 and April 8, 1990, and the departure of the last Soviet soldier on June 19, 1991.

Additional information

Issued to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Hungary's transition from a one-party communist state to a multiparty republic — formalized on October 23, 1989, when the People's Republic was officially renamed the Republic of Hungary. The date was chosen deliberately: October 23 was already a national holiday commemorating the 1956 uprising, layering the new democratic founding onto an older wound.

At 100 grams, this is a collector piece with no circulation intent whatsoever. The Adamo EM392 reference places it firmly in the Magyar Nemzeti Bank's commemorative non-circulating legal tender program.
