The 2012 Year of the Dragon issue was the heaviest and most valuable denomination in Perth Mint's lunar bullion series at the time of release, priced well above spot given the kilogram gold format. Dragon years consistently drive the strongest demand in Perth's lunar program, particularly among buyers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the broader diaspora — a pattern the mint has exploited commercially since the series launched in 1996.
Mintage was capped at 30 pieces.
