Reverse description A magnificent galloping horse is depicted in high relief at center, captured mid-stride with all four hooves off the ground, conveying dynamic movement and vitality. The background features stylized clouds and a sun or moon rendered in flowing lines, evoking the traditional Chinese artistic style of ink painting. The denomination '300元' appears in the upper right field, while the cyclical calendar characters '甲午' (jiǎwǔ), denoting the Year of the Horse in the Chinese sexagenary cycle, are inscribed in the lower left field. The overall composition reflects the classical aesthetic of Chinese fine art applied to large-format proof coinage.

Additional information

China's large-format kilo silver issues have been produced annually since the 1990s, but the 2014 Horse kilo is among the more actively traded in the secondary market — the Horse is one of the more popular zodiac animals in mainland China, and demand from domestic collectors at issue was notably strong. The People's Bank allocated these through authorized dealers with strict per-customer limits, which concentrated holdings rather than distributing them broadly.

Strike quality on the 100mm planchet is uneven across the series; the sheer mass of the flan creates cooling inconsistencies during the pressing process.
