Mount Jiuhua in Anhui Province is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, associated with the bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha — known in Chinese as Dizang Pusa — who is believed to reside there. The 300 Yuan denomination places this in the People's Bank of China's large-format commemorative silver kilo series, which expanded aggressively through the 2010s as domestic collector demand for high-premium Buddhist and landscape themes outpaced supply of earlier issues.
These kilo pieces were struck at limited mintages with packaging integral to their original sale price, and examples removed from their original holders trade at a measurable discount.
