Beschrijving keerzijde Central field features the official SAARC emblem — a stylised lotus flower cradled within two open hands rendered in outline relief — with the legend SAARC inscribed directly below the device. The denomination Rs 300 appears to the left of the emblem in Latin script, with the equivalent value in Devanagari numerals to the right. A raised beaded border frames the design, with the curved legend THIRD SUMMIT arching above along the upper periphery and KATHMANDU 1987 inscribed along the lower periphery, commemorating the Third SAARC Summit held in Kathmandu.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the second SAARC Summit, held in Bangalore in November 1986, this coin commemorates an organization that had existed for barely a year at the time of striking. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation was formally chartered in Dhaka in December 1985 — Nepal was among the seven founding members, giving Kathmandu particular motivation to mint commemorative issues at each early summit.

The 1987 date reflects production timing rather than the summit itself.
