Central field displays the national emblem of Qatar, comprising two crossed scimitars with a traditional dhow under sail on stylized waves flanked by a palm-tree-studded island. Surrounding the emblem in the legend along the lower arc are inscriptions denoting the weight, metal, fineness, denomination, and date. The composition is rendered in high relief against a polished field. |

Against a deeply mirrored dark field, a ring of fourteen highly polished silver-frosted athlete silhouettes encircles the central design, depicting competitors engaged in sports including cycling, archery, athletics, football, weightlifting, canoeing, golf, and martial arts. At center, the official coloured logo of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 is prominently displayed, featuring a stylized red sunburst above two sweeping wave bands in teal and gold. The inscription identifying the games and host city appears beneath the logo in bold lettering. |

Qatar hosted the 15th Asian Games in December 2006 — the first time the event was held in the Middle East. The Games required a construction program of extraordinary scale, including a purpose-built sports city at Aspire Zone completed under severe deadline pressure. This kilo coin was issued to mark the occasion, part of a broader commemorative program through which Qatar spent heavily to project its emergence as a regional and international host nation.
At 1000 grams of .999 silver struck to 100mm, pieces of this format were produced in very limited quantities and were never intended for anything beyond cabinet storage. KM#39 is seldom encountered outside Gulf-region collections.
