| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse of the host Spanish 2 Reales of Carlos III, Madrid Mint, dated 1760, displays the crowned quartered royal arms of Spain within a baroque cartouche, featuring alternating castles and lions in the four quarters with the pomegranate of Granada at the base. The mint mark 'M' with assayer's initials 'JP' flank the shield to the lower left and right respectively, while the denomination numeral '2' appears to the upper left and the letter 'R' to the upper right of the shield. The surrounding circular legend reads CAROLUS III D G HISP ET IND REX, partially legible due to wear. The coin bears the characteristic milled style of the Madrid Mint with a plain, well-defined border. Overall wear is consistent with the coin's extensive circulation prior to countermarking. |
