| Obverse description | Central device depicts the royal emblem of Bhutan within a raised inner circle: two intricately detailed druk (thunder dragons) face each other in high relief, their sinuous bodies encircling a crossed vajra (thunderbolt) set above a lotus blossom, rendered in traditional Bhutanese artistic style. The legend KINGDOM OF BHUTAN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the date 1991 appears twice in the field on either side of the inner circle. A Dzongkha inscription in Tibetan script curves along the lower border of the coin. |
